TL;DR
- Motorola has revealed the Moto G200.
- It packs a Snapdragon 888 Plus SoC for €450.
Motorola has already launched its Edge 20 series of phones this year, with the €699 Edge 20 Pro being the top-flight model. It packs plenty of features but uses the Snapdragon 870 chipset though, which is essentially last year’s flagship silicon. But what if you want something with more power and a cheaper price tag?
Well, the veteran manufacturer has just launched the Motorola Moto G200 (h/t: GSMArena), and it indeed brings more powerful silicon and a lower price. This new release offers a Snapdragon 888 Plus processor, along with a €450 (~$510) recommended retail price (and £399.99 in the UK), putting it firmly in affordable flagship territory.
Other notable core specs include 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, a 6.8-inch 144Hz LCD panel, and a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. In terms of the design, you’ve got a plastic rear cover (albeit with a matte-like finish), along with a plastic frame featuring metallic paint, and an IP52 rating.
Shift to photography and the Moto G200 is said to pack a triple rear camera system. This is composed of a 108MP main camera (capable of delivering nona-binned shots and 8K video), a 13MP ultra-wide camera with autofocus (opening the door for macro shots), and a 2MP depth sensor. A 16MP selfie camera is available on the front.
The new phone is launching in Europe and the UK first, with Latin America following thereafter. So you might not want to hold your breath for an imminent release if you’re in India or the US. We’ve nevertheless asked Moto’s representatives about a possible launch in India or the US.
